Simic Food (Standard)

In Throne of Eldraine, one occuring theme is Food tokens. They can be used to gain life, but can also be used to activate abilities on some creatures. Food is primarily in green, but is also seen in other colors.

The Decklist

The goal of this deck is to make food for many different purposes, but also to make a lot of value.

The Gameplan

This is one of our fastest way to make foods. It makes three food for the cost of only three mana, which allows us to power all of our other food-related cards. Not only that, but if we have some excess, we can make a 7/7 giant, though it isn't that good as it does not have trample.

This is really good at ramping us and also makes foods in the late game. It's also the cheapest ramp card in standard currently.

Feasting Troll King is a large creature and one of our finishers. It technically has two lives, and sometimes more when we have lots of food. It also makes us food when we cast it.

Tamiyo helps us find the cards we need and can also get us back cards from our graveyard. Not only that, it protects us from sacrificing things and discarding cards. It also has a special interaction with Feasting Troll King, as it can get it into the graveyard.

Shimmer Dragon is another of our finishers. It's quite large and it flies. It also has hexproof if we have enough foods and lets us use our foods to draw cards.

Wicked Wolf is one of our "removal spells" in the deck, as it can fight another creature. It can also make itself indestructible and grow with just one food. It can grow quite large and is impervious to almost all removal spells.

Conclusion

The deck actually did quite well, though I felt that we needed more removal. Shimmer Dragon was actually much better than I thought, as it's a large flier and in most matches it's virtually unblockable.

Thanks for Reading.
